Recliners on Nitrous: Armchair Cruisers Presents "Mobile Art"

Recliners on Nitrous: Armchair Cruisers Presents
If you've ever wanted to add some bling or a nitrous kit to your armchair, a Midwest company has a deal for you. Armchair Cruisers has rolled out an eye-popping line of power chairs — basically golf cart-style vehicles — that should please the Archie Bunker in anyone. The vehicles range in price from $3,995 for a single-seater to $7,995 for a gas-powered loveseat. The cruisers come in electric or gas models with a long list of options, including a $552 Pioneer stereo, a $225 high-speed motor option and a $445 light kit. Armchair Cruisers says it can customize the chairs and also provide theme packages. Prominent on the privately owned company's Web site are such intriguing offerings as a Harley-Davidson seat with a cooler and a zebra-patterned cruiser.

Daniel Helton, chairman of the company, calls them "mobile art." They call to mind such offbeat rides as the lawn chair lifted to the sky by helium balloons in the Australian movie Danny Deckchair. Only in America.
