Volvo is beefing up the engine options in its C70 convertible with the addition of a 2.0-liter turbodiesel, but U.S. buyers likely won't see such an option until 2010.
"We're not getting that engine," said Volvo's U.S. spokesman Dan Johnston. "And we probably won't for another three years."
The Volvo C70 2.0D will arrive in Europe later this autumn. The 2.0-liter diesel is the first four-cylinder engine in the convertible. It generates 134 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque with a top speed of 127 mph, and its time from zero to 62 mph is 11 seconds. The C70 2.0D gets 46.3 mpg combined fuel consumption, Volvo said. Prices will start at the equivalent of $53,200 for the Volvo C70 2.0D S.
