Automotive News : Saab Rolls Out Aero Edition of its 9-7X SUV
Saab is bringing out an Aero performance variant of its midsize 9-7X for 2008, giving it a GM V8 engine to add power to the Trailblazer-based sport-utility vehicle. The notable feature of the Aero is the use of the LS2 V8 engine familiar from the Corvette, giving the SUV 390 horsepower, 395 pound-feet of torque and an under-6-second 0-60-mph time. The 9-7X Aero version of the engine has a composite intake manifold that GM says is unique to the Saab. The limited edition also gets 20-inch aluminum wheels and tires, unique Carbon Flash metallic paint, and leather seats and floor mats with the Aero logo. Saab intends to continue producing the 9-7X until model-year 2009, when it will be replaced by the new Saab car-based 9-4X five-passenger crossover vehicle.
The 9-7X Aero is priced starting at $45,690, including destination. It will reach dealerships this fall.(www.edmunds.com)
