As Cerberus Deal Gets EU OK, Chrysler To Celebrate New Single Status With Launch Party

The European Commission has approved the buyout of Chrysler by U.S. firm Cerberus Capital Management. Now Chrysler is preparing for a massive celebration that will include dealerships sometime in the next several weeks.

The Detroit News, citing dealer sources, said 3,700 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers will receive party "kits" for an event scheduled sometime between July 25 and August 10. The paper says celebration plans will cost "in the tens of millions" when the cost for running a major advertising campaign are factored in.

The company will call itself Chrysler Corporation, its previous name, and will market itself as the "New" Chrysler. Its soon-to-be-former partner, Daimler-Benz, will be renamed as Daimler AG.
