odge has announced that the 2008 Dakota pickup will start at $20,080 for extended-cab models and $22,780 for crew cab models. Prices include a $645 destination charge.
The Dakota will come in the two aforementioned body styles and in six trim levels. A top-of-the-line Dodge Dakota Laramie crew cab 4x4 starts at $31,745, including shipping. The Dodge Dakota SLT extended-cab 4x2 with the new 302-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 starts at $24,595; a Dakota SLT crew cab 4x4 starts at $29,765.
For 2008, the Dakota gets a face-lift with new hood, grille, front fascia, rear spoiler, fenders and headlamps. The cabin gets a new instrument panel, center console and new interior storage choices.
The new 4.7-liter V8 has a 31 percent increase in horsepower over the previous 4.7-liter High Output engine and a 13 percent increase in torque, to 329 pound-feet. The new engine can operate on E85.
The 2007 Dodge Dakota club cab started at $20,015; the 2007 Dodge Dakota quad cab started at $22,715.
