Ford Kuga Preview

Ford Kuga Preview
Ford of Europe will unveil a new crossover vehicle, the Ford Kuga, at the Frankfurt auto show in September. The Kuga is based on the iosis X concept from the 2006 Paris Auto Show. The new model communicates Ford's new "kinetic design" philosophy, the automaker says.

The Ford Kuga is a compact five-door 4x4. It is set for production early next year at Ford's Saarlouis plant in Germany and will go on sale next spring. Ford released a sketch but no technical details about the new model.

The iosis X concept that came out last year was presented as an example of an "energy in motion" design aesthetic. At its debut in Paris, Ford of Europe President John Fleming promised it was the harbinger of a soon-to-appear niche market vehicle for Ford in Europe. Before that, Ford had shown an iosis concept at the Frankfurt auto show in 2005
