Tuner Roland Mayer's Motoren Technik Mayer continues to push the twin-engine TT Bimoto to new limits, setting a speed mark of 242.2 mph on the Papenburg test track. The car was shod with 19-inch ContiSportContact Vmax tires and was piloted by Porsche Carrera Cup driver Florian Gruber. A high-performance Brembo brake system is installed.
MTM is aiming to shatter the 400-kph (249 mph) mark later this year in official runs at the Nardò circuit in Italy. The TT Bimoto is equipped with two turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines, one in the front and one in the rear. Each modified engine currently makes 370 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. MTM says that with additional modifications, including larger turbochargers and an increase in displacement to 2.0 liters, the engines can produce a combined 1,000 hp.
MTM spent more than $800,000 to construct the prototype. Mayer says he plans a limited run of 10 TT Bimotos, once development tests are completed.
