SunRed Racer From Spain

Automotive News, Cars
SunRed, a company that specializes in building prototypes and racing cars, has unveiled its new SR08 street-legal racing car.

SunRed is a newcomer to the popular GT racing category where Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin battle it out with Viper, Mosler and Panoz racing cars in a thrilling series. The SunRed SR21, unveiled at the Barcelona Motor Show, is based around a Seat Leon Cupra tubular frame, clothed in a striking body and powered by a 4.0-liter Judd engine.

For homologation purposes, SunRed will produce 10 road-going examples of the SR08. At a height of just 41.3 inches, it looks purpose-built for racing. Its 196.8-inch length was dictated by aerodynamics and the 500-horsepower V10 engine that sits at the back. Maximum speed is claimed to be 186 mph and acceleration from zero to 62 mph is just 3.5 seconds. Weight is just 2,425 pounds thanks in part to its carbon-fiber frame.
